As Teknos' Chief Commercial Officer, you will hold comprehensive commercial and leadership responsibilities, including overseeing sales, driving sales growth, managing margins and profitability, ensuring technical service excellence, enhancing customer experience, spearheading business development and leading product commercialization for all Target Customer Groups (TCG) globally. This role encompasses both existing business areas and new growth opportunities.
As a member of Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and leader of Group Commercial leadership team Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) will share the responsibility with the ELT for the efficiency, profitability, and strategic development of the company in accordance to company’s values, leadership behaviour model and corporate governance with the guidance from the Board and CEO.
In this role you will be measured on the revenue, marketing margin and on profitability of all Target Customer Groups (TCG) and have responsibility for budget achievement and KPIs as set by the Executive Leadership Team and the Board.
Daily tasks and responsibilities:
- Lead and follow up sales, margins and operational profit by total and by TCGs. Initiating, driving and taking responsibility for needed actions
- Responsible for organisation set-up, resourcing, competence development and employee engagement in Commercial organization, ensuring communication, transparency, good working climate and motivation among employees
- Responsible for ensuring fluent communication between ELT and TCGs, both horizontally and vertically. TCG leaders, being responsible for managing teams of commercial managers, sales representatives and business development, ensure coordinated and high impact growth initiatives, whilst maintaining our existing customer base, includes effective and efficient cross selling
- CCO coordinates and supports the activities of all TCGs, acts as coach, mentor and a sparring partner for the TCG leaders, Technical service and support leaders and Customer support
- To ensure the highest standards of commercial and technical training in the Group
- To ensure a collaborative, fair environment for TCGs, regions as well as group functions to do business. This includes creating and enforcing group policies, as well as advising and coaching Global Commercial Directors and their teams
- In collaboration with the Product Management, participate in approving the product portfolio lifecycle, target / minimum, pricing and quality levels and set direction for new product introductions. Strategic prioritization for R&D projects, participating in and closely following up the development progress
- Give direction to defining, developing and following up conceptualizing and implementation of new services to support our coating solutions
- Together with group marketing, through active mutual dialogue, define the marketing requirements and messaging. Based on need, creating marketing and brand request to Marketing & Communication to enhance customer brand awareness and monitor customer satisfaction
- Collaborate with Product Development and Operations to align market needs with manufacturing capabilities and product innovation
- Oversee pricing strategy, go-to-market plans, and customer segmentation
- Be part of the relevant strategic and tactical project/product steering groups
- Represent Teknos in industry events (seminars, interviews, speaker forums etc.)
Key skills and qualifications:
- Commercially minded seasoned leader with several years of global strategic sales management experience, combined with strong customer/market orientation and strategic thinking capacity
- Solid commercial background within paints and coatings business combined with excellent change management and project management competences
- Proven people management skills and experience – team builder and player, able to lead and motivate a global team both directly and in a matrix
- Excellent strategic thinking and competence in conceptualizing solutions, combined with entrepreneurial approach
- Numerate, analytical mindset with high attention to details
- Work effectively under pressure and in a dynamic, changing environment
- With this international position readiness to travel is a must
- You communicate fluently in English, other European languages are welcome
