Business Development Manager - Defence and Public Sector

Are you ready to develop the business and lead global customers of defence and public sector? Join Teknos as our new Business Development Manager and play a key role in shaping the future of coatings solutions.

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced commercial professional to join our team, focused on the military and government sectors. The ideal candidate presents a strong understanding of defence technologies, public procurement processes, and the ability to build lasting relationships with customers. This role will involve driving sales, managing key accounts, and ensuring the company’s products or services align with their needs.

The role requires travelling, mainly within Europe and can be located in Germany, Liechtenstein, Switzerland or Austria. 

 

 

The most important tasks and responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute sales strategies targeting military and government entities at different levels
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new sales opportunities within the defense and government sectors
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders within the military and government organizations
  • Understand the specific needs of military and government clients, offering tailored solutions that meet their requirements
  • Manage the full sales lifecycle, from prospecting to closing contracts, including contract negotiation and pricing
  • Stay updated on defence industry trends, government procurement policies, and regulations related to defence contracts
  • Prepare and present detailed proposals, bids, and presentations to government agencies and military representatives
  • Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, product development, etc.) to ensure solutions meet client needs and specifications
  • Track and report sales activities, pipeline, and performance metrics, providing regular updates to senior management
  • Participate in industry events, trade shows, and conferences to network with potential clients and stay informed about industry advancements
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and contractual obligations

 

Key skills and qualifications:

  • Proven experience in B2B sales within  defence, military, or government sectors
  • In-depth understanding of government procurement processes, military purchase regulations and public tendering process in general
  • Strong network within military, defence contractors, or government agencies is a plus
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to understand complex technical products and services and communicate their benefits to non-technical clients
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Proficiency in both English and German are mandatory
